With a set of bright balloons, a pump and a big imagination, Irina Patterson creates just about anything you can think up. Monkeys, dragons, dogs, babies and always-popular personal caricatures all top the list of Patterson’s favorites. “It’s very entertaining when people recognize who it is,” she says.
Patterson received an art degree from her native Russia but never pursued an artistic profession until she discovered balloon art. And although she does have a part time job in public relations, she says she prefers being a performer and bringing smiles to those around her. “It’s like instant gratification and instant adoration of the public,” said Patterson.
