I have been featured in the August 2007 issue of Woman's Day.
The article: Time for Change: How to do what you've always wanted is a compilation of mini-interviews of women who reinvented themselves.
When Pamela S. Kramer interviewed me for this article, I thought that it was actually very difficult to start something new in life even if you really wanted it. Most of us have set routines in life and routines are very difficult to break. So, here are my 7 ways to jump start your new career.
- Focus only on things that you are naturally good at and see if you can turn it
into a new career
- Go to strange stores you've never seen before, look
around and see if any item inspires you
- Go to a newsstand in your
bookstore and flip through magazines you never read before
- Think back to what you enjoyed doing as a child when there was no pressure to make a living
- Look for freelance gigs on craigslist.com. Try to get some gigs even if
it's only for the experience
- Always ask people who you meet what they do
for a living. You might get ideas from them
- Never be shy to ask for help.
You'll be amazed at how many people would be willing to help you
